THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP 2007 HOSTED BY ATLAS
COPCO
Club Championship or The Masters Cup as it used
to be called is the last of the Majors in SSS Golf Section season
2006/2007, also one of the most popular tournaments of the year with
great prizes sponsored by Atlas Copco, was successfully played with 48
golfers signed up on 9th June 2007 again this year at the
beautiful Subhapruek Golf and Country Club.
The playing format was Stroke Play with ¾
handicaps and is the only tournament where group A, B and C play
together in two groups, one Ladies Group and one men’s group, as usual
the CC and Guests played in a separate group where scores are based on
the Callaway 36 system.
Kob stove came through victoriously for the
third successive year as the ladies’ Club Champion with a net score of
74 and gross of 88, Khun Ting came in second with net 77 gross 91, third
the “Iron Lady” Khun Petcharat at net 78 gross 91, this year there were
5 prizes in each group khun Lek and Khun Poy became 4 an5 both with 85
net and 109 gross.
It is worth to notice the power of the Thai
ladies within SSS Golf Section, as they came in on the first eight
places
Mats Holm won the Men’s Championship with a net
score of 71 and gross of 78 strokes, second place was taken by Inge
Larsson net 73 and gross 79, third place went to Juha Saarinen net 77
gross 82 4 and 5 place went to The Sponsor Roby Janssens net 77 gross 90
and Peter Bolther net 78 gross 80
The CC & Guest group was won by Knud Mohr at a
net score 73 and gross score 94 strokes. We look forward to see Knud in
as a regular player in next season.
Again this year there were prizes for longest
distance after two strokes on hole no 8, Peter Bolther won for men and
the long hitting Khun Petcharat won the ladies prize in this discipline.
The putting competition for the season 2006-2007 was
settled at the Club Championship. The leading player, Peder Haraldsson
with an average of 28.7 putts average 5 best rounds
Khun Petcharat could beat the score if she could play the
18 hole with 28 putts, she used only 27 and took the trophy home with an
average of 28.4 putts, second came Peder Haraldsson with 28.7 putts and
third Kob Stove with 30 putts.
Kristian Wensell of Barclay Spencer International
introduced a new sponsorship for the Most Valuable Player the winner
will get a trip for two to Koh Samui – including air fare, 2 nights
hotel accommodation and a round of golf at Santiburi Samui Country Club.

Kob Stove came through victoriously with 57 points accumulated from the
8 best rounds throughout the whole season; Khun Petcharat came close
with 53 points
After play the sponsor invited us for Dinner
and Drinks, while the committee looked back at the past season,
distributed the program for 2006-2007 and handed out prizes.
Big thanks to Atlas Copco, Roby Janssens and
his team for the great work they have done today and for their
continuing support of SSS Golf Section, we look forward to next years
Atlas Copco Tournament - The Club Championship.
The Committee is stepping down after two years
of leadership and a new committee headed by Juha Saarinen will take over
for the 2007/2008 season
We have enjoyed the challenges of running the
SSS Golf Section and thank all members, sponsors support and all others
whom have used their valuable time for the Golf Section

The membership fee for 2007-2008 has been set
to BHT 1,200.- the fee include the annual fee to TGA.
